>> My name's Jasenia [phonetic] Garcia. I graduated here from Millersville University in 2013. I came as a business management major, and I graduated with a bachelor of science. I'm currently, my role is admissions counselor at Millersville. What I do is basically go to other schools, recruit high school students, speak to perspective families, perspective students, and try to get them involved into -- and get them to come to Millersville by giving them either a presentation or kind of giving them advice on where to go or what major to choose, kind of along the lines of as a counselor. I speak with guidance counselors as well, and I let them know a little bit about Millersville if they haven't heard of Millersville. Especially out-of-state recruitment, that's pretty much what I do. About 8,000 students go to Millersville. We have a lot who apply and about 1500 of them are freshman. A busy day, first thing I would do, let's just say if I come in at 8 a.m., I would come in, make sure I have all my documents ready, all the files ready, maybe if I have a high school visit, I would have to travel, make sure of the travel times, if there's no traffic. Sometimes I need to leave a little earlier if there is traffic. So a regular day of an admissions counselor is not a typical as everyone thinks it is just because we're always on the road. We're reviewing files. We tell a lot of the students we review in three to four weeks, and we have to make that happen. So some students we have to call, and so we're calling on the road. We're always reviewing files. We're letting them know if they're missing anything or if we would like to see maybe their mid-term grades, SATs. So our schedule isn't as prepared as everyone else's who works a nine to five or eight to five. Sometimes we're doing college fairs overnight, or we have to stay overnight somewhere. So an admissions counselor's life is a little different than everyone else thinks it is.
